I have decided to call my wheelchair Blue Sunshine.
The seat and back are blue leather, but I chose Blue Sunshine because it reflects my current state and my hope for the future. I am more blue than I expected to be about how tired, sore and slow I am. But I am gaining hope and focused on the life ahead for us.
As I continue to recover from pelvic reconstruction surgery and diastasis symphysis pubis, I’ll share the adventures, struggles and firsts that Blue Sunshine and I share. Without Blue Sunshine and my transfer board, I couldn’t get to the commode or be out of bed for the next 12 weeks. Because of Blue Sunshine I will learn what I truly am capable of, tackle new obstacles and grow into a better person.
