Inspired

I can’t change the past, but I want to do everything in my power to help other moms. I am hoping by sharing the research I will do in reading those articles, as well as working to make new connections with others interested in pelvic pain I can provide good information for a good cause.

Mommas, you deserve answers and you deserve the chance to play with your child. Continue reading

100 women everyday

Early in this process I discovered a statistic that I have shared here before. Everyday across the globe, 1 in 3,000 women will substantially injury her pelvis in childbirth (or pregnancy). And everyday across the world, about 30,000 women give birth. That means every single day, 100 women experience an injury like mine. It is … Continue reading

Independence day

Independence day

Today I proved to myself that I can take care of my son and do everything required in our daily life on my own. This is an amazing thing. And we’re just getting started. My husband is now in St. Paul, Minn. with the volleyball team for the NCAA DII Regional tournament. GO BLUES! This is … Continue reading

Staying in balance

At therapy today I did a lot more standing on one leg. These balance exercises are good for me. In the midst of them I feel myself getting stronger. But they are my biggest challenge. When I am throwing a ball at a trampoline and catching it again I have to fight to keep my … Continue reading

Working out the kinks

What an amazing weekend. I started out bummed because my son and I would miss out on the Saturday football game and volleyball match on campus. After a trial run of getting the Little Guy in the car by myself — which wasn’t completely successful – I opted for staying home. I was bummed to … Continue reading

Empty and full

Empty and full

I have a confession: I’m no longer a breastfeeding mom. But I am still a Mom. And I will soon be a healthy one. It has been more than two weeks since I last breastfed my son. We began the process of weaning on Aug. 24, the day I had pelvic reconstruction surgery to repair … Continue reading

Shots – again

Shots – again

If it weren’t for my twice daily shots — blood-thinners to keep me healthy while I’m banned from using my legs — I think I would be pretty comfortable with my situation right now. Shots suck. Before I was discharged from the hospital after surgery to repair the diastasis symphsis pubis I sustained during the … Continue reading

Then and now

I just realized that I haven’t posted my before and after x-rays! I had a long, busy and happy day and I’m worn out so I’ll stick to these pictures for now and explain more later. Before surgery After surgery — you can see my 13 staples in this image, along with the plate and … Continue reading

Major update

My post-surgery progress is going just as it should. I am nearly three weeks post pelvic reconstruction surgery. My surgeon used six titanium screws and a plate to bring the two sides of my pubis back together. During childbirth more than seven months ago I separated my pelvis, later diagnosed as diastasis symphysis pubis. At … Continue reading

Finally, some good news

I haven’t felt this relieved since January 26. That day the doctors told us the Little Guy’s bilirubin was coming down on its own and he wouldn’t need an exchange transfusion. My husband and I agreed we hadn’t felt this good since that day. I don’t have osteoporosis. I don’t even have osteopenia. My bone … Continue reading
